The owner of Formula 1, Liberty Media, has finalized the acquisition of QuintEvents, a company offering high-end experiences for sports and entertainment events, including Formula 1.

To offer more unique opportunities to fans.

Liberty Media Corporation operates and owns the Formula One Group, among other companies and assets. The companies and assets attributed to this group include Liberty Media subsidiaries, Formula 1 and Quint, as well as other minority investments. Formula 1 and Quint announced in October 2021 a multi-year extension of their official partnership, F1 Experiences, which offers VIP experiences for fans and trackside hospitality.

Quint is an excellent addition to Liberty Media, expanding our reach in high-end experiences and capitalizing on the ongoing growth of the global experiential economy, said Greg Maffei, President and CEO of Liberty Media.

We aim to leverage our relationships in the field of sports and live events to expand Quint’s portfolio of new projects, offer more unique opportunities to fans, and increase efficiency in the ticket distribution ecosystem.

As a reminder, Liberty Media acquired the Formula One group for $4.6 billion in January 2017. The American company has since popularized F1 globally and in the United States, notably through the series “Drive To Survive.”

What is QuintEvents?

Quint is a provider of official tickets and hospitality packages for many of the world’s most prestigious sports and entertainment events. Based in Charlotte, North Carolina, and founded in 2002, Quint offers innovative programs that expand fan experiences and entertainment opportunities for corporate clients.

In addition to its relationship with Formula 1, Quint has over a dozen official partnerships serving over 90 events, including the NBA, NHL, and NFL in the United States, as well as MotoGP and NASCAR for motorsports. Quint was renamed in October 2023, and Brian Ruede was recently appointed as the general manager.

“Today marks a transformative moment for the future of Quint,” said Brian Ruede, CEO of Quint. “Our expertise in the global experiential economy, combined with Liberty Media’s strong relationships in the sports and live entertainment industries, will form a dynamic team.”

We will aggressively seek to expand our services and strategic partnership portfolio to become the most comprehensive experiential platform in the world. We are only at the beginning.

A buyback worth $313 million.

Liberty Media has acquired over 90% of Quint for $313 million, approximately 288 million euros. The transaction was initially concluded in September and has been finalized at the beginning of 2024. The company will be assigned to Liberty Media’s Formula One group, and Formula 1 and Quint will continue to operate as separate entities.
