The Andretti clan is “devastated” after the announcement of the F1 decision
Andretti-Cadillac reacted to the statement from Formula One Management, which has decided to reject their application to enter Formula 1 before 2028. The American team "strongly disapproves" of the FOM's verdict.

The entry of the team based in the United States into Formula 1 was approved by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (International Automobile Federation) last October, but the commercial rights holders of F1, Formula One Management (FOM), have concluded that the application did not pass a decisive stage and have therefore refused the entry of Andretti-Cadillac into Formula 1.
The F1 has determined that an eleventh team in the World Championship would not be in itself an added value in 2025 or 2026. However, the F1 has opened the door to a potential entry in 2028 for Andretti, when their partner General Motors will be able to produce their own power unit.
The 1978 world champion and legendary motor racing driver, Mario Andretti, quickly reacted to this announcement, writing on X, formerly known as Twitter: “I am devastated. I will say nothing else because I can’t find any other word besides devastated.”
In the evening, Andretti-Cadillac then published a statement and countered the F1’s evaluation, stating that they strongly disapprove the FOM’s verdict.
Andretti Cadillac has reviewed the information shared by Formula One Management Limited and strongly disapproves of its content, states the Andretti statement. Andretti and Cadillac are two successful global organizations in motorsports, committed to establishing a true American team in Formula One alongside the world’s best teams.
We are proud of the significant progress we have already made in the development of a highly competitive car and power unit with an experienced team, and our work continues at a steady pace.
Andretti Cadillac also wishes to acknowledge and thank the fans who have expressed their support, concludes the American brand in its statement.
This official statement from the American clan would imply that they are not ready to give up on a Formula 1 entry anytime soon, and the development of this matter will need to be closely followed.
