The Suzuka Circuit is one of the favorites among drivers and fans, with notably the famous “S” curves and the 130R turn, among the highlights of one of the most renowned circuits in Formula 1. Suzuka has witnessed numerous memorable moments in F1, with 12 driver championships decided there, most notably in 2022 when Max Verstappen clinched his second consecutive title.

For the year 2024, the Grand Prix of Japan will take place at a new period in April, placed between the races in Australia and China. This initiative is part of Formula 1’s desire to streamline its calendar, thus promoting a more efficient conduct of races while contributing to the reduction of distances traveled around the world. This approach is part of Formula 1’s commitment to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030.

Stefano Domenicali, CEO of Formula 1, declared about the announcement: « Suzuka is a special circuit and an integral part of the sport’s history, I am thrilled that F1 will continue to race there until at least 2029.”

In anticipation of our earlier return to Japan this season, I would like to express my gratitude to the organizer and the Honda MobilityLand team for supporting our endeavor towards a more streamlined schedule as we aim to make the sport more sustainable,” he continued.

Our fans in Japan welcome Formula 1 with a unique passion and we are excited to work with the organizer to offer fans the experience they deserve for years to come.

Tsuyoshi Saito, President and Representative Director of Honda Mobilityland Corporation, added: “I am happy that we will be able to continue hosting the Japanese Formula 1 Grand Prix at the Suzuka Circuit from 2025. I would like to express our sincere gratitude to Stefano Domenicali and the other relevant members of Formula 1.”

We aim to create a sustainable future and we are currently preparing to welcome many fans for the Formula 1 Japanese Grand Prix in 2024 in April, the first time the event will take place in spring.

We will continue to collaborate with local communities and government organizations, including the Mie Prefecture and the city of Suzuka, so that Suzuka continues to be loved by fans around the world and contributes to the prosperity of the culture and industrial development of motorsports, he concluded.

The Grand Prix of Japan will take place this year on the weekend of April 7, 2024.
