Alexander Albon doesn’t want to rush into the 2024 season of Williams too quickly
Williams finished the 2023 season in 7th place. After a very encouraging year, Alexander Albon prefers not to speak too soon about the 2024 season.

To be in line with 2023. Williams has unveiled its car for the next World Championship. After achieving a solid 7th place with an impressive Alexander Albon, the British team intends to build on their progress. Expectations should focus on the improvements that Williams could make, and at the very least, maintain this level.
If Logan Sargeant did not shine in his first season (only 1 point in the championship), the second driver for Williams surprised more than one person. Alexander Albon finished the season with 27 points in a car that didn’t have good handling. In qualifying, the Thai driver managed to reach Q3 seven times and started once on the second row. It was in the Netherlands.
Despite this enthusiasm, Alexander Albon prefers to temper expectations even though he believes the team has made progress with the FW46. “I want to improve on various personal aspects because I think there is always room for improvement for every driver,” said the 27-year-old athlete during the Williams inauguration ceremony. “As for the team, we will have to wait and see. I feel like every team is going to take a big step forward. Everyone is talking about numbers and the number of points they have added, and how much faster they are. Everything is comparative, so let’s see how we compare to everyone else. But we have done good work.”
Anticipated development
Williams attempted the gamble of early development. The British team turned their attention to the development of the FW46 for 2024 starting from mid-season. They seemed well positioned in 7th place with a car that was ahead of its competitors. Aiming for 6th place and challenging Alpine seemed too ambitious at this stage of the season. However, the Thai driver states that the team was still divided on the distribution of work. As a result, the majority of the development began after the 2023 season.
“It was delicate because we were so focused on the championship, trying to finish P7, that we couldn’t afford to spend too much time on 2024,” said the driver sporting number 23. “Throughout the year, we started to almost exclusively focus on the FW46 car. We also have good simulator drivers who do the background work every time. However, since Christmas, the pace and progress of the car have increased, and it’s really fascinating to see.”
