Alexander Albon, under contract with Williams until 2025
Alexander Albon had a successful season in 2023. The Thai driver made a name for himself in the paddock. His future at Williams will depend on the team's progress.

Williams is ready for 2024. Since December, the British team has known its two drivers (Logan Sargeant’s contract extension) and the FW46 was unveiled on February 5th. After finishing the year 2023 on a positive note, James Vowles’ team hopes to improve on their 7th place finish in the championship.
The driver who hopes for progress at Williams is Alexander Albon. The Thai driver has had a very solid season and has carried the team from start to finish. In a struggling car, he has scored 27 out of the 28 points in the championship. These performances have not gone unnoticed in the paddock. Following Lewis Hamilton’s departure from Mercedes at the end of 2024, and probably Sergio Perez’s departure from Red Bull, rumors have been circulating linking him to one of the two teams. However, James Vowles, during the presentation of Williams, confirmed that Alex Albon has a contract with Williams until 2025.
Alex has signed with Williams until the end of 2025, that’s confirmed,” Vowles stated. “I haven’t said this publicly because I don’t feel the need to. So, all the rumors you see, especially one in particular, are at best speculations.”
Albon ready to play the podiums
The former Red Bull driver is aware of his improvement. Therefore, his future at Williams would be linked to the team’s progress. “I feel like I deserve a car that can achieve podiums and fight for victories,” explained the Thai driver. “And that’s just being totally honest with how I see myself.”
However, Alexander Albon hopes that the team with which he will achieve podiums will be Williams. “I am focused on Williams and that’s where I see myself,” he stated. “The rate of progress, for me, is also very important, so time will tell. I feel like I am very close to my peak. There are always improvements to be made and there are still areas to improve.”
A long-term project
Williams is undergoing a major reconstruction. The team has chosen to implement significant changes within its various departments. These works are still ongoing, therefore, the Williams project seems to extend over the long term. It is difficult to imagine that the team will be in contention for top positions in 2024.
« James always keeps me informed about the team’s status, progress, and areas we need to work on, areas I can help improve, said Alexander Albon. « He’s very open in that regard. But it will take time. I think 2026-27 is the period where we will be able to consistently fight for the podiums. I just have to be happy with the progress we are making. I will help and push for that as much as I can.
Williams finished the last championship in 7th place, just ahead of AlphaTauri.
