Alexander Albon would have received an offer to join Red Bull in 2026
According to some rumors, the Thai driver is being targeted by Red Bull, who would like to bring back the current Williams driver to the Austrian team.

Over the past few weeks, the Formula 1 driver transfer market has been shaken up, and Alexander Albon was part of some discussions. Rumors were circulating about the Williams driver joining Red Bull as early as 2025.
These rumors were dismissed by Williams’ team principal, James Vowles, who revealed that Alexander Albon’s contract runs until the end of 2025, contrary to 2024.
Henceforth, Red Bull would be seeking to secure a first option on the services of the 27-year-old driver. Albon would then be offered an opportunity to return to Red Bull starting from 2026, after the expiration of his current contract with Williams.
When asked about possible discussions regarding his future during the launch of the Williams 2024, Albon had declared: “I would deny if I said there haven’t been any questions and general discussions on this matter, but honestly it’s not really up to me, it’s more up to my management. My focus is on driving.”
The Thai is now focused on the 2024 season with Williams, even though questions about his future arise.
I have the feeling of being very close to my peak. There are still improvements to be made and there are still areas to improve, but overall, with my current experience and where I am, I feel like I deserve a car that can make podiums and fight for victories. And that’s just being completely honest with how I see myself.
Let’s see what it is »
« More than anything, I want this team to be Williams, and that’s where I put all my work and all my efforts,” he continued. » It’s very clear to me, especially when we see the driver market, there is a huge interest from teams for the same drivers for 2025 and 2026. That’s how it seems to be unfolding. Let’s see how it goes. »
The Williams team’s team principal, James Vowles, has confirmed that Albon is under contract with the team for 2025, but when asked if he would oppose a suitable offer for next year, he replied: « If a decision were to go in that direction, it’s because I have clearly made decisions that are correct for the team’s long-term goals and not short-term ones. »
Alexander Albon had joined Red Bull during the 2019 season when he replaced a struggling Pierre Gasly alongside Max Verstappen. However, the Thai driver, facing the same difficulties, eventually left the team at the end of the 2020 season.
Since then, Albon has rebuilt his career with strong seasons in 2022 and 2023 with Williams, helping the Grove team to progress to seventh place in the F1 rankings last year.
