For her second season in single-seaters and her first year in the F1 Academy, Doriane Pin, the young French woman of just 20 years old, won the first race of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix this Friday in Jeddah. The other French driver, Lola Lovinfosse, finished in 5th position.
This Friday, Doriane Pin, starting from pole position, won the very first race of the F1 Academy season in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The Prema driver did not ease off throughout the race, which allowed her to stay out of reach of the rather fierce competition, especially with Abbi Pulling (Rodin Motorsport driver). Despite the numerous attacks from other drivers, the Mercedes protege chose to set her own pace, drive freely, and head straight for the checkered flag. The French driver also managed to stay focused despite the pressure from the English driver, who actually set the fastest lap of the race in the final moments. Therefore, this first race of the season ended with a beautiful French victory signed by Doriane Pin, followed by the British driver Abbi Pulling (Rodin-Alpine) and the Dutch driver Maya Weug (Prema-Ferrari).
Behind the leading trio, our second French driver, Lola Lovinfosse (Rodin), finished in 5th place. In a lively race, the French driver had a scary moment when she collided with one of her rivals Nerea Marti (Campos), sending her straight into the barriers. But the show goes on this Saturday with the second race of the weekend in Jeddah, still over 12 laps.
