The F1 Grand Prix will be back on Sunday for the remainder of the season, except for one
While the first two Formula 1 Grand Prix races of the 2024 season took place on Saturdays, for the rest of the season, the Grand Prix will always be held on Sundays, as tradition dictates. Except for one, Las Vegas.
The two Grand Prix of the 2024 season took place on a Saturday and yet it was not a question of time difference, as Bahrain and Saudi Arabia are only two hours ahead of Europe. The reason was related to the local culture and the practice of the Muslim religion.
Indeed, since Ramadan begins on the night of Sunday to Monday at the beginning of this week of March 11, 2024, it was inconceivable for Formula 1 to organize a race on Sunday evening, just a few hours before the start of Ramadan. The Saudi Arabian Grand Prix was therefore rescheduled to Saturday, and as there needs to be a minimum of 7 days between two races, the previous Grand Prix, the season opener in Bahrain in 2024, also ended up being held on a Saturday.
The rest of the season, however, the Grand Prix races return to their usual format with a main race on Sunday, although some races will have, as they have for several years, sprint races on Saturday as well.
The only Grand Prix that will be an exception is the Las Vegas Grand Prix. The race will take place on a Saturday evening in the USA and due to the time difference, will be held very early in Europe on Sunday.
The next Grand Prix will be on a classic format, in Melbourne, for the Australian Grand Prix from March 22 to 24, 2024.
