Lewis Hamilton to talk to Toto Wolff about leaving Ferrari

Lewis Hamilton’s shocking move to Maranello was announced on February 1st, and the Briton has been focusing on his 12th and final F1 season at Mercedes. Team director Toto Wolff stated after the Australian Grand Prix that what was happening this year at Ferrari was not his priority today, referring to his driver.

However, there will come a time when Hamilton and Mercedes will have to face this situation, as the team seeks to hide from its outgoing driver all the details concerning the 2025 car.

It will not be a completely new situation for the seven-time world champion, but his transfer from McLaren to Mercedes had been announced much later in the 2012 season, on September 28th exactly.

« I think it will start with a conversation with Toto, because I don’t know how to find my way. I have never been in such a situation before, so early in the season,” the Briton said.

When I left McLaren, it was at the end of the season. I could only go to Mercedes in December, I think, when I got into the seat for the first time, once the season was over. I’m not sure how we should organize ourselves.

Hamilton wants to finish his adventure with Mercedes.

Lewis Hamilton reaffirmed his desire to prioritize his current campaign with the English team, especially since he is looking to end his unprecedented streak of 49 winless races.

« For now, I want to finish in style here,” he added. « So all my energy is devoted to that. Of course, there is enthusiasm for the future. But at the moment, we are going through a tough period. This is my challenge. »

This is where all my energy goes, to try to find out how we can get back to the top. How can I work with the guys? How can I do better debriefings, give them better direction to fight back?
