Mario Andretti had recently opened a headquarters in Silverstone. He is now launching a recruitment drive to complete his team with staff, despite being informed that he will not be allowed to enter as a Formula 1 team in the 2026 season.

The 60 vacant positions include high-level roles, such as head of aerodynamic development, head of mechanical design, and various other engineering positions, including in aerodynamics and CFD, model design, electronics, control systems, computer science, vehicle performance, and manufacturing.

All positions are based in Silverstone Park, on the outskirts of the Grand Prix circuit and opposite the new Aston Martin headquarters. Formula 1 had refused his application, stating that it was not convinced that Andretti would provide enough value, but left the door open for a new registration process for the 2028 season.

The powerful American group plans to set up factory engines provided by Cadillac’s parent company, General Motors, which should strengthen its case. Speaking to the Associated Press, Mario Andretti said there would be more meetings with F1 bosses, including during next week’s Miami Grand Prix.

We only had one meeting with them, it’s a problem. We haven’t had enough. That’s why I’m really looking forward to our next meeting. Let’s sit down and discuss, declared the 1978 world champion.

« There have been missed opportunities along the way, but we must look forward, not backward. I remain hopeful because we never stop working towards this goal. It has been clear that our work is progressing at a steady pace, and as you can see, we are not just talking. We are actually building. We have demonstrated this with the team that already has a location in Silverstone.
