Zak Brown: “We receive a lot of CVs” from Red Bull

As at the pilots’ press conference yesterday, Adrian Newey is at the center of the questions posed to the technical directors this Friday. True to form, Zak Brown was aggressive on the subject. When asked if he was surprised by such a departure, he replied:
“Six months ago, yes, I would have been surprised. But with everything that has happened there since the beginning of the year and knowing Adrian well and his high level of integrity, I’m not surprised.”

He even went further by stating that he thought that this is only the first domino to fall. There will be other departures as we are currently receiving many resumes. When asked again about the subject, he confirmed that these spontaneous applications were coming from Red Bull engineers.

In addition to the expertise and level of experience of the star designer, it is also his leadership that is recognized: « People want to work with Adrian. So I think they will miss what he brought to the team from a purely technical point of view, as well as his leadership and the enthusiasm that people had for working with him.

But in such a context, the McLaren director declares that he is very satisfied with his current technical team and that he is not particularly looking for the signature of the former McLaren employee. Such promises obviously bind only those who believe in them… Zak Brown is a communication expert and the improvements his team is making should bring it closer to Red Bull. So all weapons are good to contribute to destabilizing one of its main rivals.
