Charles Leclerc considers himself lucky after finishing third in Miami
Charles Leclerc finished third this Sunday at the Miami Grand Prix. A position he believes he obtained thanks to luck as the Monegasque driver experienced some mishaps that almost cost him dearly.

Starting second on the grid, Charles Leclerc limited the damage right from the first corner of the Miami Grand Prix. As the race started, with Max Verstappen in the lead, followed by the two Ferraris, Sergio Perez almost took all three cars with him, including his teammate. A maneuver that could have cost Charles Leclerc dearly. But the Monegasque did not lose his composure.
From our side, we were lucky to finish it. As I took the first turn, I thought we weren’t going to make it. Checo was a bit too optimistic on that one. Fortunately for us, there were no consequences,” he said into the microphone of Canal + just after the race.
After the great scare, the safety car is out and Norris takes off.
After the big scare at the start, the Scuderia Ferrari driver could not fight for long with Lando Norris, winner of this race. The British McLaren was too fast for him, and he had to stay focused on the two men in front of him. The Monegasque even mentioned a loss of performance, not to mention the total loss of DRS following the first turn of the race. Things even got slightly more complicated with the safety car coming out, which the Ferrari driver failed to handle properly. In the end, a third place after a few twists and turns still allowed the Ferrari driver to score points and challenge Red Bull more than in the previous weekends. They will have to keep fighting with the fierce competition.
« We focused on the race, but we never really had the performance to put pressure on Max. The performance compared to Red Bull this weekend was good, but there was McLaren who is very strong this weekend. With their upgrade, I hope they won’t have this kind of performance all year because otherwise they will be really fast », added the Monegasque at the end of the race.
Nearly two years without a victory
It is necessary to go back to July 2022 to see Charles Leclerc on the top step of the podium. Since then, the driver has still managed to achieve quite a few podium finishes with some great performances but not enough to dethrone Max Verstappen or Lando Norris this season. As for his teammate, Carlos Sainz, he succeeded in climbing to the top step of the podium a few weeks ago at the Australian Grand Prix. Mark your calendar for May 19th for the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix.
