Canadian Grand Prix: Rain expected in Montreal
After enjoying the Monegasque sun, Formula 1 will have to deal with rain throughout the Canadian weekend.

Formula 1 takes a break in its European tour to stop in Montreal. If the city has experienced a strong heatwave with temperatures exceeding 30°C in recent days, rain and wind seem to be willing to join for this weekend.
Rain…
Environment Canada has already issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Montreal for this Thursday afternoon.
Conditions are conducive to the formation of dangerous thunderstorms that can produce strong gusts and heavy rain this afternoon and early this evening, says the meteorological forecasting website.
Showers are then expected all weekend with a rain risk of about 70% on Friday and Saturday. These unstable conditions should also affect Sunday. The chances of witnessing the first race in the rain of 2023 are therefore very high.
…and wind.
In addition to this wet weather, the wind will also play a part at the Gilles Villeneuve circuit. A southwest wind will blow moderately at the beginning of the weekend and gusts of up to 35km/h are expected for Sunday.
An asphalt designed for rain
Following the modernization of the new paddock inaugurated for the 2019 edition of the Canadian GP, the track was entirely resurfaced in the fall of 2023. A drainage system has also been improved and redesigned, which could prove very useful as soon as this weekend, to handle these unstable weather conditions.
