Daniel Ricciardo reprimanded by the stewards after zigzags in the pitlane
At Silverstone, the race stewards decided to give a reprimand to Daniel Ricciardo for dangerous behavior in the pit lane. The Australian driver zigzagged in the pit lane intentionally.
While the weather conditions were very cold this Saturday in Free Practice 3 at Silverstone, Racing Bulls driver Daniel Ricciardo did his best to maintain the temperature of his tires, even going so far as to zigzag in the pitlane.
Observed by the race stewards, this behavior was deemed dangerous and was reprimanded. Drivers are allowed five reprimands in a season before a potential exclusion. This is the first one of the season for the Australian driver.
Heard by the stewards, he acknowledged that his action was not adequate while personnel were in the pit lane, working on other cars.
« The team asked the driver to keep the temperature in his tires as he entered the pit lane and the driver decided to zig-zag once in the pit lane, explained the FIA. « A significant number of mechanics were in the pit lane on the sides close to this action and it could have resulted in contact, especially in rainy conditions, the FIA explained.
