Formula 1 has just released the trailer for the F1 movie which will be released in June 2025. In over one minute and thirty seconds, and to the music of We Will Rock You, the movie's plot is revealed a little more.
Scheduled for release in June 2025, the new movie “F1” promises to make an impact. This feature film, directed by filmmaker Joseph Kosinski, starring Brad Pitt in the lead role, has just unveiled its trailer.
Produced by Hollywood heavyweights Jerry Bruckheimer and Chad Oman, alongside Brad Pitt himself, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, and seven-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton, just victorious at home in Silverstone.
Brad Pitt embodies Sonny Hayes, a former driver who decides to make his grand comeback in Formula 1. He will be supported by Damson Idris, playing the role of Joshua Pearce, his rookie teammate at APXGP, a fictional team on the grid. “It’s an intense and realistic dive into the world of F1, with meticulous attention to detail and rare authenticity,” says Jerry Bruckheimer.
The film, produced by Apple Original Films, will be distributed in cinemas worldwide and in IMAX® by Warner Bros. Pictures. The international release is set for June 25, 2025, while North American audiences will have to wait until June 27, 2025 to see Brad Pitt on the big screen.

A Filming at the Heart of F1
The filming of “F1” took place during various Grand Prix races during the 2023 and 2024 seasons, offering a total immersion into the world of Formula 1. Among the circuits visited were Silverstone, Hungaroring, Spa Francorchamps, Zandvoort Circuit, Las Vegas Strip Circuit, and the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi. In 2024, the filming team also set up their cameras at the Suzuka Circuit, Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez in Mexico, and again at some of the circuits from 2023. “We wanted to capture the very essence of Formula 1, its intensity and its spectacle,” explains Joseph Kosinski. “Filming during the Grand Prix races allowed us to do just that.”
Besides Brad Pitt and Damson Idris, the film also stars Kerry Condon, Javier Bardem, Tobias Menzies, Sarah Niles, Kim Bodnia, and Samson Kayo.
“F1” doesn’t just tell a story; it aspires to offer a unique cinematic experience with scenes blending reality and fiction, thanks in particular to the collaboration of Lewis Hamilton, who is co-producing this film and thus providing access to many typically restricted locations. The release of “F1” is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated cinematic events of 2025 for F1 fans.
