An abandonment on Pierre Gasly’s side and a 16th place for Esteban Ocon. The British Grand Prix of this season is on the long list of Grand Prix races to forget for the French driver. Starting 18th on the grid, the Alpine driver still does not seem to find consistency despite the recent yet encouraging and reassuring results. But nothing worked on the Silverstone circuit, which once again plunged the entire Alpine team to the bottom of the standings. Pierre Gasly’s teammate lacked pace throughout the weekend. The Normand completely missed out on his Q1, finishing just a few seconds ahead of Gasly and Sergio Perez, and ended his session in the gravel trap. The 18th time he set can be explained by a misunderstanding with his team when it came to taking the checkered flag, as he wanted to make one last attempt to save himself.

The Frenchman did not hide his annoyance with Alpine after the British Grand Prix. While the adventure between Esteban Ocon and Alpine is coming to an end at the end of the season, the driver still seems determined to finish on a high note but for that, he will have to make better choices and take better decisions.

I think that this weekend has been filled with bad choices. We haven’t made any good decision since the beginning. It’s been very complicated, there’s nothing to gain from it. We need to turn the page and think about the next race. I think the team needs it. I’m fine, I’m ready to drive in any situation, even tomorrow if necessary. But honestly, it was complicated this weekend, said the driver after the race.

The future of the driver is becoming more and more concrete. Indeed, he would be close to signing with Haas for the next season. Stay tuned, in the meantime, see you in two weeks for the Hungarian Grand Prix where it will be an opportunity to assert oneself and go after new points.
