Oscar Piastri voted Driver of the Day in Hungary
At the end of the 70-lap Hungarian Grand Prix, Oscar Piastri won his first Formula 1 GP, with Lando Norris, who had to give up his place, in second place and Lewis Hamilton rounding off the podium. For the first time this season, McLaren driver Oscar Piastri was voted Driver of the Day.

The tension was palpable right from the start of the race with the two McLarens who could have collided. What we will remember is the questionable strategy of the British team, which clearly favored its number 1 driver, for almost the entire race. Lando Norris led a good part of the Grand Prix, with a different strategy in the pits. But towards the end of the race, the team heavily insisted that the Briton let his teammate pass. After a few suspenseful laps, Lando Norris eventually yielded and let the Australian pass before the finish. This makes him the seventh different winner this season. The championship leader, Max Verstappen, finishes in fifth place after a very average Grand Prix and especially a collision with Lewis Hamilton, which will be reviewed by the stewards after the race. A battle that reminds us of the 2021 season…A Grand Prix synonymous with a record as it is also the 200th podium for Lewis Hamilton.
A close race
A McLaren double, an advantage taken over Red Bull. 76 points now separate Lando Norris from the World Champion, Max Verstappen. After claiming pole position on Saturday, it was finally Oscar Piastri, starting in second place, who came out on top and earned the title of Driver of the Day. The record was previously held by the Briton who achieved it six times this season. Team discussion should help clarify things.
Next meeting for the weekend in Belgium, in Spa, from July 26th to 28th, for the last Grand Prix before the summer break.
