Esteban Ocon frustrated at Alpine: “These are the same problems as three years ago, it’s not acceptable in F1”
With Alpine in 8th place in the constructors' championship, with just 9 points on the board, Esteban Ocon said that no-one in the team was satisfied with their current position.

During an interview with the press on Thursday in Spa, Esteban Ocon shared his point of view on his transition from his current team to Haas, with whom he formalized his agreement this morning, highlighting the clarity of the latter’s plans for the future. He mentioned several times the word “clarity” to talk about Haas, something that, for him, may have been lacking at Alpine. Perhaps that’s what’s holding them back. There have been a lot of rumors recently about the engine side and what could change, he noted.
The decision to join Haas, for Ocon, had been made a long time ago. The decision for me was quite clear for a long time. I wanted a new challenge. I wanted to write my own story. My own story. Five years in Formula 1 with the same team is long in terms of Formula 1. We achieved good things. We achieved some more difficult things at times, he added, reflecting on his time at Alpine.
His first victory with Alpine
Ocon did not hide his frustration about the current season. Alpine is in 8th place in the championship, with only 9 points on the board.
« It is certain, this season has been frustrating. It’s no secret to anyone. Nobody is happy in the team about our current position. There have not been enough improvements on some technical issues that we had years ago. What I was referring to, this circle of technical development and improvement, we have not mastered it and we are facing the same problems we had three years ago with this current car, which is not acceptable in terms of Formula 1. »
Despite this, Ocon still holds a special place in his heart for his current team. “I wish the best to this team. It’s a team that will forever remain in my heart. We achieved my first podium, my first victory together. That will always be special to me. I wish them the best for the future. Before that, we still have half a season to finish. I hope to do my best to end beautifully with this team.”
