Can the second part of the season be the one of renewal for Aston Martin? This is what the drivers hope for, especially Lance Stroll, who recently made poignant comments towards his team, explaining that it has not yet achieved the goals it had set at the beginning of the season.

« We took a wrong direction in terms of development philosophy. We took the wrong path and we are realizing it more and more. It is now a matter of changing course and giving time to develop and become good again by following this new path. » Words that seem to have been heard, the team based in Silverstone recently bringing back a package of improvements that seems to have worked if we believe the words of the Canadian driver during the drivers’ press conference that traditionally took place this Thursday.

« Yes, I think we have certainly improved the car in the last few races. Budapest was not our most competitive event. I think we were a little better at Silverstone. »

Lance Stroll has high hopes for Spa.

Perhaps a renewed optimism at Aston Martin, which arrives this weekend on a track whose layout suits the single-seater.

« I think we are better on the long straight lines. So, I hope we can perform well this weekend. It’s a great circuit. It’s a place I always like to come back to. And yes, we have been fast on the straight lines this year, so I hope we can have a good weekend, explained the former Williams driver, who hopes to build on his good momentum during the second half of the season, as he scored points in the last two races at Silverstone and the Hungaroring circuit.

A second half of the championship that he hopes will be more prolific than the first, which was too stingy and irregular in the eyes of the Canadian.

« Yes, the usual things, you know, a few good races, a few disappointments. And yes, you know, for the second half of the season, I’m just trying to build on the first half, to become more competitive as a team, to try to score points week after week. So we have to keep pushing until the last race », analyzed the Aston Martin driver on Sky Sports microphone.

As the season is about to enter its second half, the time has come for the British team to find its 2023 form again at the risk of experiencing a very frustrating second half of the season for the team and especially the drivers. Long hours of work await Aston Martin employees with the obligation to try to bring parts to the car as quickly as possible, according to Tom McCullough, the performance director.
