With no future at Williams, Logan Sargeant will have to say goodbye to F1
The announcement of Carlos Sainz's arrival at Williams means that the British team has already secured its two drivers for 2025. A situation that ejects Logan Sargeant, who will be leaving Williams at the end of the season. Indycar could be his future destination.

With the official announcement on Monday of Carlos Sainz joining the Grove team for several years, Williams clearly states that it is no longer counting on Logan Sargeant for the next season. After two seasons and 32 races with the team, Sargeant is forced to leave Williams, even though the team wanted to thank him for all the work done since his arrival in 2023.
« Williams Racing also wishes to thank Logan Sargeant for his hard work and dedication over the past two years. A graduate of the Williams Driver Academy, Logan became the first American driver to score a point in 30 years when he finished 10th in Austin last year, and played a fundamental role in the team’s development.
Insufficient results
When Sargeant was announced as a Williams driver, replacing Nicholas Latifi, whose performances were not meeting expectations, the British team was banking on a promising young driver. As a member of their academy, the American has always shown impressive speed, as evidenced by his third place in the 2020 F3 championship, just four points behind champion Oscar Piastri. In 2022, racing for Carlin, he finished fourth in the championship in his first full season of Formula 2.
However, for the past two years, Sargeant has struggled to make a name for himself in Formula 1 and has suffered against his teammate. His mistakes are costly, especially since Williams must retain a maximum of savings to develop the car and comply with the budget cap. After the Belgian Grand Prix, the team therefore decided to part ways with the American driver as of this season.
With only one point scored since the beginning of his F1 career, earned at home in Austin last year, the team chose to opt for an experienced driver, capable of scoring more points, in the person of Carlos Sainz. Williams thanks the American for his constant dedication to the team and wishes him good luck for the rest of his career.
Williams will provide all its support to Logan as he seeks to pursue his racing career in 2025 and in the future.
The Uncertain Future of Logan Sargeant
Even if he does not yet know what the future holds for him, the future ex-Williams driver is exploring many avenues. There are still places to be taken in Formula 1 at Audi, Alpine, Mercedes, and Racing Bulls, although none of these four teams seem willing to start negotiations with the American driver.
If his spot in F1 is currently more than compromised for 2025, he could choose to move towards IndyCar, within René Rosin’s new team Prema, a team he is familiar with for having driven there in 2020 in the Formula 3 championship. These are the latest rumors suggest, further stirring up a very active driver market for the past few weeks.
