Making a comeback at McLaren in IndyCar during the race in Toronto, replacing the injured American Alexander Rossi, the Grasse native is gaining experience in a competitive discipline and delivering promising performances. The announcement on Monday of Carlos Sainz’s transfer to Ferrari increases Pourchaire’s chances of joining Audi. Sainz being out of the running for a seat within the German manufacturer, the Frenchman finds himself in a favorable position. As a member of the Sauber Academy for several years, Pourchaire knows the team’s personnel well, a significant asset in negotiations. He has recently expressed his desire to join Formula 1, ideally with Sauber.

He also faces serious competition, particularly from Valterri Bottas, the current Sauber driver, who could be renewed. Mick Schumacher, with the prospect of a 100% German duo in a German team, is also a serious candidate. Finally, Zhou and Sargeant are options being considered, although their chances of obtaining a seat next year are currently quite slim.
