The Formula 1 paddock is rife with speculation about Adrian Newey’s next destination. The renowned engineer, who is soon to leave Red Bull, is being courted by numerous teams, and now, a new team has entered the race. According to a report from the German edition of F1-Insider.com shared by RacingNews365, Alpine has become a serious contender to sign the current technical director of the Austrian team.

Flavio Briatore takes the lead.

The imminent departure of Adrian Newey has been one of the most discussed topics outside the circuits this season. As he will be leaving Red Bull by early next year, several teams are looking to recruit the man behind Red Bull’s championship-winning cars. Alpine’s interest comes as a surprise, as they had stayed in the background compared to Aston Martin and Ferrari, both of which have been closely linked to the Briton recently.

What makes Alpine’s proposition particularly interesting is the involvement of Luca di Meo and Flavio Briatore. As the CEO of Renault and executive advisor of the team respectively, they are said to have played a role in the request. According to the report from the German media, the two men personally contacted Adrian Newey. They offered him complete creative freedom if he decided to join the French team. With Luca di Meo’s presence in the arrangement, this could signify a meeting between Alpine and Renault, who are currently undergoing a separation.

Furthermore, Adrian Newey has already worked with Renault in the past, when he was at Williams and for a few years at Red Bull. This would bring him to work with the Enstone team this time. At the moment, Aston Martin seems to be in the lead to acquire the engineer, but the situation could change if the contract terms seem more appealing on the other side.

Adrian Newey is not concerned about rumors.

On his side, Adrian Newey himself addressed all the media attention with calm. He who spoke in Red Bull’s podcast, Talking Bull, looked back on his career in Formula 1, but also on the rumors surrounding him recently. After a first stint at Leyton House towards the end of the 1980s, Adrian Newey learned to detach himself from the media interest and is no longer affected by the influence they can have.

(It’s) It’s very simple for me, because I don’t really read social media or magazines – it’s something I stopped doing a long time ago,” explained the Red Bull engineer. “(It’s) I told myself, in fact, you can’t read the press when it’s good and then get angry when it’s bad, so at that moment, I said to myself: ” Well, just don’t read the press!””

However, even if he avoids contact with the press, it does not prevent him from being aware of the rumors circulating about him. Mandy, my wife, follows social media. She vaguely keeps me informed of what’s going on, but I am relatively indifferent to all that. I just try to lead my life without being influenced by it. As anticipation builds for Adrian Newey’s next step, the rumors that follow him are likely to escalate in the coming months.
