The weather forecasters had not lied. The weekend of the Dutch Grand Prix starts in difficult weather conditions. Since this morning, gusts of wind are sweeping the Zandvoort circuit and when the F1 Academy single-seaters took to the track at 10 a.m. for their practice session, it was the rain that came to water the dunes along the North Sea.

With these conditions, the drivers fear for their safety and wonder whether it is feasible or not to take to the track for today’s free practice session. Lando Norris is among the drivers concerned about this situation.

(e) Even with a wind of 20-25 km/h, it’s already a lot for us. But if it reaches 40, 50, 60, 70, 80 km/h, it will be very complicated. I have never experienced that before. To be honest, it could be really dangerous because if you enter a turn at a certain speed, like in turn 7, and you have strong wind, there is nothing you can do to keep the car on the track,” said the McLaren driver in the Zandvoort paddock.

So the question now is what decision the FIA will make regarding the holding of the first free practice session this Friday, which is scheduled to start at 12:30.
