Struggling since the start of the Dutch weekend, Esteban Ocon failed to improve the performance of his Alpine on Saturday. The qualifying session ended very quickly for the Normand, who was eliminated in Q1. A session that the future Haas F1 driver even described as a disaster.

It’s a very long weekend for us. We couldn’t find anything that fit the car. It wasn’t a normal session where we could build. There’s something fundamental that’s not working on this car.

Ocon takes the opportunity to somewhat criticize his employer by mentioning a strategy that has been bothering him since he joined the French team as a regular driver in 2020.

« We had a car that was working at Spa but everything has been changed. Unfortunately, these are recurring things in this team for the last five years. We need to think about what’s next because this weekend is a write-off for us. You never know what can happen tomorrow, but we have to understand why it wasn’t working here.

The end of the season looks long for the Frenchman with the Blues and now we can feel that he no longer hesitates to say what bothers him about Alpine.
