Lando Norris: “I’m a bit surprised by the gap with Max”
On pole by more than three tenths, the McLaren driver was delighted with his performance after qualifying.
Author of his fourth pole position in his career, his second in four races after the one obtained in Hungary at the end of July, Lando Norris is the man in form of the weekend and the gap that separates him from his pursuers on the grid makes him the favorite for the race on Sunday.
My last run was very quick. The car has been very fast since the beginning of the weekend. We have a good pace. It’s not an easy circuit especially with the wind but everything worked well today said the McLaren driver.
With more than three-tenths of a second ahead of Max Verstappen and nearly half a second ahead of his teammate Oscar Piastri, Norris dominated this session. He also said he was surprised by the gap.
« I’m a little surprised by the gap with Max. Just a gust of wind or two and you gain or lose a few tenths. We brought our first developments here since Miami and they work well » concludes Norris who will therefore share the front row with the one ahead of him by 78 points in the championship.
