Charles Leclerc: “I think we have applied a very good strategy”
Thanks to an excellent strategy, the Monegasque driver managed to climb onto the podium, resisting Oscar Piastri's comeback.
Ferrari can be pleased with its weekend in the Netherlands. While the Scuderia was initially thought to be the fourth strongest team on the grid, the two Italian cars ultimately finished ahead of both Mercedes and Sergio Perez’s Red Bull. Even better, Charles Leclerc managed to climb onto the podium, marking his second consecutive podium after Spa at the end of July.
« I don’t understand why we were nine-tenths yesterday and on the podium today with the same car,” Leclerc said expressing his confusion after the race. « We just have to do the best we can, plain and simple.
Eng: Long in the fight with Oscar Piastri’s McLaren at the end of the race and yet slower than the Australian driver since the start of the weekend, the winner of the 2024 Monaco Grand Prix paid tribute to the strategy deployed by his team allowing him to undercut his opponent.
« I think we have implemented a very good strategy. Congratulations to the team for that. We will also have soon evolutions. By the time they arrive, we will try to maximize our package, as we did here.
With this third place, Leclerc slightly consolidates his third place in the championship with now a thirteen-point lead over Piastri and twenty over his teammate Carlos Sainz.
