McLaren arrives at the Singapore Grand Prix as the leader of the F1 constructors’ standings. The team’s recent success ended a streak of 55 races for Red Bull, which had been leading this ranking since the Spanish Grand Prix in 2022.

In a statement published on McLaren’s website, team principal Andrea Stella acknowledges the importance of this achievement: « This is an important step in our journey. » However, he points out that the team remains focused on the challenges ahead. « We are taking advantage of this positive moment to redouble our efforts for the upcoming races »,” he adds.

The Singapore Grand Prix presents a unique set of challenges. Known for its high humidity levels and demanding urban circuit, it is one of the most physically demanding races on the F1 calendar. Stella notes in this regard that her team is prepared for such tough conditions and will aim for another good weekend in terms of points.

Lando Norris, for his part, expresses his confidence ahead of the race: “It feels good to approach this race knowing that we are currently leading the constructors’ championship. The team has done, and continues to do, an excellent job.” Norris, who has already delivered good performances in Singapore, is looking forward to racing under the lights: “I’ve done well here in the past and I feel ready, so it should be another fun race,” he says.

For Oscar Piastri, who has just won his second Grand Prix victory in Baku, he is eager to maintain the team’s momentum: “We have a good pace in the team, and we must continue to add as many points as possible.” He recognizes the challenges posed by the Marina Bay circuit but remains optimistic: “It is a short circuit but incredibly demanding for the drivers. We scored good points in Singapore last year. With a stronger car, we should be able to rise to the challenge. Hopefully we can maintain this momentum.”

McLaren’s rise to the top of the rankings is particularly impressive. Stella attributes this progress to the hard work and dedication of our entire team, and the support of shareholders and partners. McLaren now has the daunting task of maintaining their lead over Red Bull, which trails by 20 points. As a reminder, Red Bull had a 115-point lead over McLaren after the Miami Grand Prix.

As the team aims for their first constructors’ title since 1998, the pressure to maintain the continuity of good results is palpable, as Norris points out « We know that we have to keep working hard and get consistent results. »

The Singapore Grand Prix will be a crucial test for McLaren, which is seeking to consolidate its leading position. This weekend’s performance could set the tone for the final stretch of the championship.
