Abbi Pulling is racing towards the title for this second season of the F1 Academy. The British driver left Singapore after almost hitting the jackpot. Two pole positions, two wins, and the fastest lap in the race… The Rodin driver, supported by Alpine, left the city-state with 55 points out of a possible 56. This solidified her position as the championship leader with a total of 245 points, which is 95 more than her closest competitor, Doriane Pin.

The French driver, starting 2nd on the grid for this race 2, was caught off guard at the first corner by her teammate at Prema, Maya Weug. It’s a challenging circuit. If you start from pole position, it’s much better. I was still on the front row today but Singapore is a complicated Grand Prix, explained Doriane Pin after the race.

Supported by Mercedes, Pin did not manage to regain the advantage over Weug. In the strong Singaporean heat, she notably struggled to keep up with the Hispano-Dutch racer. « It was complicated with the heat, especially to manage her tires and to stay in contact with other cars »,” she added.

The championship compromised

Overtaken by Pulling in the championship, Doriane Pin hopes to finish on a good note during the last two events of the calendar (Qatar and United Arab Emirates), leveraging the experience gained this season. “It was a enriching weekend in terms of learning,” she commented to Canal+. “I still remain positive and it bodes well for the future. In the championship, with a 95-point gap, it will be difficult to catch up to [Abbi Pulling].”

The other Frenchwoman from the plateau, Lola Lovinfosse, returns from Singapore without any points after finishing 13th in race 2.

The last two rounds of the season will take place in Losail from November 29th to December 1st and then at Yas Marina from December 6th to 8th. Doriane Pin will try to maintain her 30-point lead over Maya Weug in second place in the championship.
