Oscar Piastri delivered a strong performance in Singapore, starting fifth and finishing on the podium in third place. The Australian McLaren driver completed a first stint longer than many of his competitors, a strategy that proved effective in the closing laps of the race.

This approach allowed him to have fresher tires when it mattered most. He managed to overtake the two Mercedes drivers, including one, daringly, on the outside of George Russell. His podium contributes to a very successful day for McLaren, with both cars finishing in the top three.

Commenting on his race, Oscar Piastri said he was satisfied with his performance. “It was a good race, a good recovery after yesterday’s qualifying. It wasn’t my best afternoon yesterday, so getting back on the podium is an excellent result. It felt like we had a very fast car underneath us and a good strategy to overtake the Mercedes. A big thank you to the team, the car was exceptional this weekend and good points for the whole team, so I’ll take it.”

On a circuit lined by walls, the Australian could have made several mistakes, but he stayed clean. According to his own words, he has « stayed on track this time ». « I don’t think I touched anything. It was a bit tight with George (Russell) in the first corner. But, know that once I got to third place, I had a huge gap that I was trying to close. So I didn’t want to take too many risks but yes, I feel like I grazed enough walls over the past two weeks, so I hope the mechanics won’t have to change anything before the next race. »
