F1 warns: resold F1 2025 presentation tickets will not be valid

The collective presentation of F1 2025 in London, scheduled for February 18, saw its 20,000 tickets snapped up in 40 minutes. Faced with the immediate appearance of speculative resales at exorbitant prices on unofficial platforms, F1 warns that any tickets purchased outside the official circuits will be invalid.

The world of Formula 1 ignited on Friday morning with the highly anticipated sale of tickets for the joint launch event of the F1 teams for the 2025 season, in honor of the sport’s 75th anniversary, which will take place on February 18 in London.

Hundreds of thousands of Formula 1 fans were sitting in online queues hoping to secure a spot to experience the historic event up close. Unfortunately, only a limited number of people were able to get these tickets. Moreover, the high demand quickly led to a speculative resale of tickets at exorbitant prices, prompting Formula 1 to intervene.

Indeed, the 20,000 tickets available to attend this historic evening, where the 10 F1 teams will unveil their new liveries in the presence of all the drivers, sold out in just 40 minutes. Tickets initially sold between €66 and €128 (including booking fees). However, while some fans were still waiting in line, the precious tickets were already reappearing on resale platforms, sometimes at completely exorbitant prices. Some tickets were thus offered for up to €2,240, representing a dizzying increase of nearly 20 times compared to the lowest price set by the organizers.

In a statement, F1 acknowledged the existence of this issue. “We are aware that some tickets for our season launch event at the O2 have been listed on unofficial resale sites. We can confirm that this goes against the terms of sale, and that all tickets purchased through an unofficial resale platform will not be valid for entry. Another piece of bad news for fans who were still hoping to get a ticket through other means, especially as they are currently sold out on official circuits.”

Many fans took to social media to express their frustrations at not being able to get their ticket despite hours of waiting. One fan had written on Twitter: « I waited for over an hour for tickets to the F1 75 event, but was told they were all sold out ».” Another, who had waited about 40 minutes in the virtual queue, was surprised that after just 4 minutes, other fans were already reporting that tickets were sold out.

Although the resale of tickets at higher prices is not illegal in itself, the strong stance of Formula 1 and the O2 Arena should deter fans from turning to these unofficial channels, especially to avoid falling victim to scams.

Indeed, Formula 1 also reports dubious announcements offering tickets that simply do not exist. We are working with O2 and have also identified that many announcements are fraudulent. We advise all our fans to only buy tickets via theo2.co.uk website or via the official AXS resale platform, she says in the statement.

The spectators who will be present on February 18 will experience an unforgettable evening. In addition to seeing their favorite drivers up close, they will also attend interviews with key personalities from the world of motorsport, special presentations, and even surprise guests. A true show not to be missed for the most loyal fans.

However, for those who have not had the chance to get a ticket, Formula 1 plans to broadcast the event live, even though the details of this broadcast have not yet been communicated at the current time.
