Williams to take part in Las Vegas Grand Prix
After the Brazilian Grand Prix, Williams team boss James Vowles publicly admitted his concern following a series of recent major accidents for the team. There was a rumour that Williams might not take part in the Las Vegas Grand Prix, but this will not be the case.
Williams F1 will indeed have two cars ready to race in Las Vegas this weekend. The British team denied rumors that the team could miss the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Las Vegas next weekend.
The team clarified the situation after unfounded speculation suggesting that the accumulated damage in the recent rounds could force them to skip the event. The 2024 F1 season is set to conclude with a triple-header, starting with the Las Vegas race.
However, during the last two rounds in Brazil and Mexico, Williams suffered five cumulative accidents. These incidents have a significant financial cost and exert considerable pressure on the factory, particularly to produce and ship spare parts for the upcoming races.
James Vowles, team principal, acknowledged the impact of these multiple accidents. No team on the grid can manage five major accidents in two race weekends. The spare parts we carry are simply not enough to cope with such a level of attrition.
Williams bet on Las Vegas
For Vegas, I have high hopes. We were fast last year, and I am convinced that the car will perform well in these conditions. We will do everything possible to field two cars at the highest level with enough spare parts to achieve this, says the team boss.
All eyes will once again be on Franco Colapinto, who has impressed since his debut in Formula 1.
Journalist Lawrence Barretto confirmed on social media, after discussing with the team that: « At Williams, they tell me that there is no truth in rumors that they wouldn’t be in Las Vegas because of the massive damage from three accidents in Brazil. They claim that they will have both cars ready for Nevada. It’s an incredible effort from the team and suppliers.
