The Canadian Grand Prix will change date in 2025

The Canadian Grand Prix supports the rationalization of the Formula 1 calendar, with a change in programming from the 2025 season onwards. The aim is to achieve carbon neutrality within the next few years, in line with the Net Zero 2030 objective. To achieve this, the organizers are trying to create a responsible calendar.

This announcement is part of the changes already made to the Formula 1 calendar in recent years, to create a more streamlined schedule.

The Japanese Grand Prix has been moved to spring to align with races in the Asia-Pacific region, Azerbaijan has been rescheduled for autumn as the championship turns east towards Singapore, and Qatar has been brought closer to Abu Dhabi towards the end of the season.

As announced earlier, as part of this wider rationalization, the Monaco Grand Prix will be held every year on the first full weekend of June, starting in 2026.

« I am extremely grateful to the promoter and all government partners involved in the Canadian Grand Prix, whether at the local, provincial, or national level,” said Stefano Domenicali, President of Formula 1.

« We salute the considerable effort of all those who have contributed to speeding up the temporary implementation of the event to be ready to welcome the F1 community earlier than in the past. This change will not only make the future calendar more sustainable but also more logical from a logistical point of view for our teams and personnel. Our commitment to carbon neutrality by 2030 remains a priority for us as a sport, and it is thanks to changes like this that we are on track to achieve our goal.

Jean-Philippe Paradis, CEO of Octane Racing Group, added that: “This change in the calendar is a major step in our commitment, as well as that of Formula 1, towards a more sustainable future. It demonstrates our willingness to combine sporting performance and event organization with environmental responsibility.”

We are determined to offer our fans, our communities, and our loyal audience a unique and enhanced experience, while extending the summer season for Montreal.
