Frédéric Vasseur believes that the FIA’s approach to the floorboards was “strange”
Ferrari team principal Frédéric Vasseur has expressed his frustration at a new FIA technical directive issued on the eve of the Las Vegas Grand Prix.

Before this weekend’s race, the FIA published a new technical directive clarifying how skid blocks should be fixed to the car floor, in order to prevent teams from exploiting a gray area in the regulations.
This clarification was expected for 2025, but it seems that Red Bull has insisted on making changes earlier to resolve an ambiguity in the previous technical directive.
Ferrari boss, Frédéric Vasseur, confirmed that his team had to make modifications to their floor, but stressed that the FIA had deemed their floor legal. “Yes, we had to make a change, but we also had confirmation before that the floor was legal, from the FIA,” he said.
« I think it was the right attitude on our part not to fight against it, because I want to stay focused on the championship and not on this kind of discussion. But the approach was strange.
Mercedes and Alpine have also confirmed that they have modified the configuration of their cars in response to the technical directive.
Alpine’s director, Oliver Oakes, admitted at a press conference that his team had to make a small change. While Toto Wolff declared that Mercedes had to change the way we manage the floor too.
Red Bull has also been affected by the rule, although it supports these changes. Unlike Zak Brown, CEO of McLaren, who confirmed to Sky Sports that the technical directive had not affected his team.
