Esteban Ocon, a tough race in Las Vegas
Pierre Gasly's teammate finished in 17th place at the Las Vegas Grand Prix. A real underperformance for him.

Decidedly, Las Vegas did not bring luck to Alpine. After the double performance in Sao Paulo, the two French cars took a cold shower in the streets of the city of casinos. In addition to Pierre Gasly’s retirement, Esteban Ocon finished outside the points zone.
The Normandian driver experienced a real disaster during his pit stop, his team not being ready. This action caused him to lose many places and valuable time. In the end, an anonymous 17th position was waiting for the French driver at the checkered flag.
Points were conceivable in Las Vegas.
« It wasn’t our race today and we finish outside the points. We need to review what happened during our first pit stop, as it means that we took a lap in the pit lane. It’s a shame and we need to look back on this situation. We didn’t seize the opportunity that presented itself to us today, even though I was convinced I could at least fight for points. We will review everything and try to do better in Qatar next time, announced Esteban Ocon after the race.

As he said, we will have to bounce back in Qatar next week, a track that suited the Dieppe brand in previous seasons. The goal will be to forget this American underperformance and move forward to try to regain sixth place in the constructors’ standings. But also to move up in the drivers’ hierarchy.
