While Charles Leclerc had started the race well by launching an attack against the leader George Russell, he fell back in the rankings due to difficulties with his medium tires. He then had stronger stints with the hard tires, but after coming out of the pits in front of Carlos Sainz following his second pit stop, the Monegasque was almost immediately overtaken by his teammate.

By crossing the finish line in fourth place, just behind Carlos Sainz, Charles Leclerc expressed his complaints on the radio, a point that team director, Fred Vasseur , then said he wanted to address.

Interviewed before this weekend’s Qatar Grand Prix about the frustrations he felt after the race in Nevada, Charles Leclerc responded: “I do not want to go back on what happened in Vegas. There are two races left this season, and we absolutely must do everything to win this constructors’ championship. That’s all that matters, and whatever happened in Vegas, we talked about it and everything is settled, that’s what is most important.”

« I had no doubt about it, because we have always had a very good relationship with Carlos. There have been races where sometimes things do not go exactly as we would like, but the most important thing is to discuss it and move forward.

Charles Leclerc emphasized that he and Carlos Sainz are fully focused on the goal of helping Ferrari win the constructors’ championship. The points scored in Las Vegas allowed the team to close the gap to 24 points behind the leaders, McLaren, before the final two races of the season.

« It’s very clear to both of us that we simply want to win the constructors’ championship, and it’s by working as a team that we will achieve it. I’m sure there will be no problem in that regard,” Leclerc added.

When asked to specify if this meant that he had settled his differences with Carlos Sainz, the driver, winner of eight races, confirmed: « Exactly. »
