The FIA announces that Max Verstappen will serve his penalty in Rwanda
The FIA has detailed what Max Verstappen's community service will entail, following his vulgar remarks during the Singapore Grand Prix.

Max Verstappen was sentenced to perform community service by the FIA after using inappropriate language during the press conference preceding the race in Singapore. The four-time world champion had described his Red Bull as being “screwed” in reference to his difficulties during the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
As a protest against this sanction, Max Verstappen avoided answering the media correctly during the FIA’s official press conference in Singapore after the qualifications, preferring to speak to the journalists in the paddock.
The FIA also sanctioned Charles Leclerc for similar comments by imposing a fine of 10,000 euros.
What will this sanction consist of?
The FIA published the details of this sanction on Sunday after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. It declared: « The FIA announced the details of Max Verstappen’s ‘public interest work’, linked to the stewards’ sanction for the use of unacceptable language during the drivers’ press conference at the Singapore Grand Prix 2024.»
« Max Verstappen will attend the FIA prize-giving ceremony taking place during the General Assemblies next week in Kigali, Rwanda, to receive his fourth consecutive FIA Formula 1 World Champion trophy.’
« During his stay in Kigali, he will work with junior competitors as part of the local development program organized by the Rwanda Automobile Club (RAC).
« The activity will focus on an affordable FIA rallycross car that was built locally in Rwanda by the RAC from plans provided by the FIA. »
The design plans for the affordable category 2 rallycross car project have been delivered to the global network of 147 national sporting authorities (ASNs), the statement reads.
