Alpine is trying to redeem itself to its French fans by making spelling mistakes and forgetting Esteban Ocon

In a statement published on social networks, Alpine thanked its fans for a long and complicated 2024 season, making the effort to write in French for once. While the intention is good, the statement was poorly received by its community.

A gesture that started with good intentions. But which quickly backfired on Alpine. After the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, the final race of the season, the team posted two identical messages on Twitter. One in English, the other in French.

The problem is that the latter was translated quite poorly. If the beginning of the text does not contain major mistakes, the end raises questions. The use of an automatic translator is most certainly the cause.

« If the slope is steep (sic) »

This season has been unmatched. 2024 was a real adventure, punctuated by ups and downs, challenges, and successes. From our difficult start at the back of the grid in Bahrain to our double podium in Brazil, you were with us every step of the way. Your unwavering support has constantly nourished and pushed us to give our all. Your passion and faith have enabled us to move forward and progress tirelessly at each stage, reads the first lines.

« We all desire to experience more beautiful Sundays, like Brazil. We are aware that the road is long to achieve this, but we are excited by this immense challenge. We will never give up until we have reached the dream we have set for ourselves, no matter how long it takes. »

It is now that things get complicated, even if some syntax errors can be noted … « If the slope is steep (sic), we are more motivated than ever to overcome, rise to, and succeed in this challenge towards the peaks. We are absolutely determined to give everything we have deep inside each of us to be in our rightful place. And we will not give up until we achieve it. »

Where is Esteban Ocon?

If this dubious translation has been the target of numerous critical messages towards Alpine, other responses pointed out the signatures. At the bottom of the statement, the name of Pierre Gasly and Jack Doohan appears. So far, no problem, but no mention of Estaban Ocon, who participated in the double podium in Brazil, mentioned in this famous text.

Finally, during the traditional family photo taken at each last Grand Prix of the season, there was no mention of Esteban Ocon. The only man who brought Alpine to the top step of the podium in this era of Formula 1.
