The 2024 FIA Prize Giving Ceremony is a major event in the automotive world, highlighting exceptional achievements in the various disciplines of motorsport. This ceremony, which previously took place in Paris, is now traditionally held in different locations.

The awards recognize drivers, teams, and organizations that have marked the year with their performances in a championship organized by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA). The 2024 ceremony promises to be particularly captivating, with categories covering areas as diverse as Formula 1, rally, Formula E, and many other associated disciplines.

The awards aim to honor the best drivers, engineers, teams, and initiatives, recognizing not only sporting achievements but also progress made in safety, sustainability, and technological innovation. In a context where the FIA increasingly emphasizes eco-responsibility and safety, this edition could see new categories emerge, highlighting efforts to integrate green technologies into motor racing competitions.

Time, place, and date

This season, the prestigious ceremony will be held in Kigali, Rwanda. This African country has been trying for a few years to make a name for itself in motorsport, with the hope of securing a race on the F1 calendar.

The ceremony will be broadcast on the FIA’s YouTube channel this Friday, December 13th, starting at 8 PM.

Max Verstappen as world champion but also on a mission

Max Verstappen, the Dutch Red Bull driver and four-time Formula 1 world champion, was sanctioned by the FIA after using inappropriate language during the press conference before the Singapore Grand Prix last September. Instead of the traditional fine, the FIA opted for a different sanction: Max Verstappen will have to perform community service under supervision. This work will take place in Kigali, Rwanda, where he will spend time with young drivers from the Rwanda Automobile Club (RAC), as part of a development program for future local talents. This decision reflects the importance of promoting culture and introducing motorsport in emerging regions.
