Alessandro Alunni Bravi steps down as Sauber General Manager
Sauber has announced that Alessandro Alunni Bravi will be stepping down as team representative and general manager of the F1 team. A surprising departure on the eve of the 2025 season.

Alessandro Alunni Bravi will leave Sauber at the end of January, after a seven-year stint with the Swiss team, during which he held several leadership positions.
The Italian joined the team in 2017 as general counsel and member of the board of directors, before being appointed managing director in 2022. Before the 2024 season, Alessandro Alunni Bravi saw his role expand as the team representative.
Objective 2025 and the arrival of Audi
Although Sauber operated without a formal team principal during the 2023 and 2024 seasons, Alessandro Alunni Bravi was in practice the de facto leader of the team and fulfilled the FIA press conference duties for the team during race weekends.
His departure marks a new change for Audi as they approach their full entry into F1 next year when they take over the Sauber team.
The former boss of Ferrari F1, Mattia Binotto, joined Sauber last July as Chief Operating Officer and Technical Director, while Jonathan Wheatley left Red Bull to become team principal starting from the 2025 season.
Sauber experienced a difficult 2024 season, finishing last in the Constructors’ Championship with only four points. They will have an all-new driver duo for 2025, consisting of Nico Hülkenberg and Formula 2 champion Gabriel Bortoleto.
A new beginning
Alessandro Alunni Bravi stated that he is leaving Sauber to embark on a new project. It’s an emotional moment as my journey with Sauber comes to an end, said Bravi. Since I joined the team in 2017, I have seen this team grow and evolve beyond what one could have imagined.
This organization has gone through exciting and challenging times, without ever losing its spirit and commitment, which is a source of inspiration for me, and I have been proud to be able to represent the team as the public face these past two years.
« As I embark on a new project, I want to thank Finn Rausing, everyone who trusted me at Sauber and Audi, as well as all the colleagues I have worked with over the past eight years. This team is a family and has a bright future ahead of it. »
Mattia Binotto paid tribute to Alessandro Alunni Bravi, calling him a true team player. Having worked closely with him since my arrival in Hinwil, I want to pay tribute to Alessandro, a true team player who has embodied the essence of Sauber over the years, added Mattia Binotto.
Alessandro played a wide range of roles within the team, guiding it through challenging and exciting times. As he embarks on a new adventure, the entire company would like to thank him for all his energy and contributions over the years and wishes him the best for the future.
