Kimi Antonelli obtains his license

Mercedes shared the news of the 18-year-old driver’s latest achievement by posting a photo on its social media, showing Kimi Antonelli giving a thumbs up from a driving school car.

« Mission accomplished », could be read in the caption, accompanied by checkmark emojis indicating that the young Italian now possesses both the Super License required to race in F1 and a driver’s license.

The timing is ideal for Kimi Antonelli, who gets his license just before a particularly busy period leading up to the start of the 2024 season. The Italian will join his fellow drivers at the spectacular F1 75 Live event, which will be held at the O2 Arena in London on February 18, where the ten teams will unveil their liveries for the 2025 season.

Kimi Antonelli will then discover his new car, the W16, which will be presented to the public on February 24, a few days before the pre-season tests scheduled from February 26 to 28 at the Bahrain International Circuit.

After that, the young Italian will take his place on the grid for the first time at the Australian Grand Prix from March 14 to 16, marking the start of the 2025 season, where Max Verstappen will attempt to defend his title.

**A fun fact:** Max Verstappen himself did not have his driver’s license when he made his F1 debut and had already competed in 14 Grand Prix before obtaining it, after turning 18.
