2025 F1 Winter Testing: Where, When, and on Which TV Channel?
The 2025 Formula 1 season is fast approaching, and winter testing is the first key event for teams and fans. Here's everything you need to know to not miss out on these crucial days.

Dates and location of winter testing
The pre-season tests will take place from Wednesday, February 26 to Friday, February 28, 2025, at the Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir. This will be the only test session before the start of the season.
Each day of driving will extend from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. local time, or from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. French time. This slot allows teams to maximize track time to test their new single-seaters before the first Grand Prix.
Where to follow the tests live?
For F1 enthusiasts, several broadcasting options are available:
- Canal+ will offer complete live coverage of the testing for the French-speaking audience.
- F1TV Pro, the official Formula 1 platform, will broadcast all the sessions.
- Sky Sports F1 will also provide coverage for English-speaking subscribers.
Moreover, the Formula 1 YouTube channel will publish detailed summaries of the on-track action every day, perfect for those who can’t watch live.
Why are these trials important?
These winter tests play a key role in preparing for the upcoming season. They allow teams to test the technical developments of their new cars and identify potential issues before the first Grand Prix. For some drivers who have changed teams, it is also an opportunity to get their bearings behind the wheel of a new car and adjust their settings. Finally, even though the lap times recorded should be interpreted with caution, these sessions offer a first glimpse of the forces at play, allowing for a preliminary hierarchy to be sketched before the official start of the championship.
The opening Grand Prix of the 2025 season will be held in Melbourne (Australia) from March 14 to 16, and these tests will play a key role in the teams’ preparations.
