The Mercedes driver got the better of his opponents during this first morning of winter testing. He leads the time sheet ahead of Liam Lawson and Alexander Albon.

The rookies take the lead during this first half-day of winter testing in Bahrain. Indeed, Andrea Kimi Antonelli set the fastest time of the morning in this first testing session.
The Italian driver clocked a 1.31.428 and leads by just over a tenth, another rookie: Liam Lawson in his Red Bull. The top 3 is completed by Alexander Albon’s Williams. Notably, the Thai driver achieved this time on hard tires while his counterparts were on mediums.
For his first official session in red, Lewis Hamilton takes the 5th place just behind Yuki Tsunoda, all without encountering any major issues.

On the other hand, Fernando Alonso and Aston Martin encountered some difficulties during this first morning and were the least active on the track. The Spaniard ranks 7th behind Jack Doohan’s Alpine.
The top 10 is completed by Piastri, Hülkenberg, and Oliver Bearman, who mainly focused on long stint simulations, which explains his lap time being more than 4 seconds off his peers.
