As a reminder, the Red Bull team announced on February 5, 2024, that it was investigating allegations of misconduct by Christian Horner towards a team employee.

At the beginning of the 2024 season, the Red Bull team was rocked by accusations of inappropriate behavior and authoritarian management against its director, Christian Horner. This scandal created significant internal instability, exacerbated by calls for Horner’s resignation made by Jos Verstappen, Max’s father. These tensions even raised questions about Max Verstappen’s future with Red Bull.

Despite the storm, Christian Horner claimed he never considered resigning, insisting on his commitment to the team. Although he denied all allegations, the internal investigation conducted by Red Bull, which exonerated him, did not put an end to the matter.

According to the newspaper De Telegraaf, the employee who reported Christian Horner’s behavior has taken legal action by filing a complaint with the London employment tribunal, with a hearing date set for January 2026. This action confirms that the case is definitely not closed.

The situation of the Briton was fragile. It wouldn’t take much for this case to resurface with a new element: a close associate of the employee, suspended by Red Bull, contacted the BBC to report the alarming situation his partner is in. He emphasized that she feels very disturbed, angry, frightened, very intimidated, and wants the truth to come out, despite a confidentiality clause that forces her to remain silent. This employee also filed a complaint with the FIA and contested the decision made.

Press blocked by a restraining order

Another aspect that stands out is the media coverage of the issue. The attention given to this case has gradually decreased, but not due to a natural loss of interest. The narrative was subjected to a reporting restriction order (RRO) issued by Horner in the United Kingdom, a legal injunction that limited the ability of British media to report the story.

According to the Dutch media, a publication restriction order was issued in the UK since April at the request of the Horner clan, stating that the media are no longer allowed to report on the case until further notice.

The prohibition order was implemented a few months ago and thus slowed the dissemination of updates. However, a new hearing before the labor court could change the situation.

With the opening of the trial, this case is likely to become a major news story once again on the international stage, bringing back into the spotlight a chapter that seemed to be closed.
