Since 2019, this is the first time the Australian Grand Prix opens the season. Three weeks after the tests in Bahrain, it is now time to get a feel for this season, which promises to be very competitive. Heading to the Albert Park circuit, will we see Piastri and his McLaren win at home?

You’ll have to get up early to follow the practice sessions and the race because with the 10-hour time difference with Melbourne, Europe is significantly offset. The practice sessions therefore start in the middle of the night from Thursday to Friday, at 2 a.m., while the race will begin in the night from Saturday to Sunday, at 5 a.m.

Note that Canal+ is broadcasting the Grand Prix free-to-air, to kick off the 2025 F1 season.

The Grand Prix takes place on an atypical circuit. Its layout, partly urban, sometimes evokes the famous Monaco track, with its winding sections. The drivers must complete 58 laps, competing for victory on a circuit featuring fast corners and two DRS zones, offering great overtaking opportunities.

If Max Verstappen, the reigning champion, has shone on many circuits, this one has only smiled upon him once, in 2023. Indeed, last year, he endured a particularly difficult weekend, marked by technical problems that remain etched in his memory. As for the Ferrari team, it has experienced some success, with Charles Leclerc claiming victory in 2022 and Carlos Sainz in 2024.
