Australian Grand Prix: Lando Norris voted Driver of the Day
At the end of a rain-soaked race, McLaren's Lando Norris took the win and opened his points tally for the 2025 season. He was voted driver of the day.

Starting from the front of the grid, British driver Lando Norris brilliantly managed a race marked by unpredictable weather conditions, alternating between showers and safety car periods, to clinch his fifth success in Formula 1. The first of the 2025 season.
A turbulent race
From the start, several incidents disrupted the progress of the event, including rookie Isack Hadjar’s off-track excursion during the formation lap, as well as the early retirements of Jack Doohan and Carlos Sainz. In total, six retirements and only two rookies still in the race (Kimi Antonelli and Ollie Bearman).
Despite these interruptions and the constant threat of Max Verstappen, the defending champion, Lando Norris remained unfazed, adapting his strategy to the changing track conditions to maintain control of the race.
With this victory, he temporarily takes the lead of the championship and confirms his status as a key driver in the field. His calm under pressure and mastery of difficult conditions earned him praise from observers as well as the honorary title of driver of the day (20% of the votes).
Behind him, Max Verstappen finished second, followed by George Russell, at the conclusion of a thrilling race that kept spectators on the edge of their seats until the checkered flag.
Lando Norris – 20.7%
Oscar Piastri – 17.2%
Alex Albon – 15.9%
Yuki Tsunoda – 11.3%
Lewis Hamilton – 8.3%
Next appointment is next week at the Shanghai circuit in China.
