The information is not yet official. But it could become official in the next few minutes. At 6:45 PM and 7:00 PM, Chinese time, two drivers are summoned before the stewards to explain the weight of their car.

After the Chinese Grand Prix, Pierre Gasly’s Alpine and Charles Leclerc’s Ferrari were weighed. And the scale showed a weight below the minimum required by the regulations.

The Ferrari #16 was weighed at 800 kilos with a damaged wing. After repairing the part, the single-seater was checked at 800.5 kilos. It was therefore compliant. But after removing the two liters of fuel for analysis, the prancing horse car weighed only 799 kilos on the scale. That’s one kilo less than required.

On Pierre Gasly’s side, it’s the same thing. The Alpine was checked at 800 kilograms before the fuel check. One kilogram of fuel was removed, which brought it below the regulatory weight.

After the observation of these irregularities, the infractions were noted and reported to the commissioners who will have to decide. If the regulations are applied to the letter, these two cars should be disqualified. Lewis Hamilton could therefore reclaim the fifth place from his teammate. Pierre Gasly, who finished outside the top 10, will not lose any points.
