Haas F1 Team has unveiled a special livery for this weekend’s Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka. To mark the start of cherry blossom season, the American team has decided to honor the tradition of « sakura » with a unique design on its VF-25 cars.

This special livery features bright pink cherry blossom patterns blended into the team’s traditional red, white, and black color scheme. Present across the entire car, it also reflects Haas’ growing ties with Japan, notably since Ayao Komatsu’s appointment as Team Principal in 2024 and the team’s new partnership with Toyota GAZOO Racing.

In a statement on the team’s website, Komatsu shared his thoughts on the team’s expectations for the weekend: « Even though we were competitive in Shanghai, we know we’re still dealing with a fundamental issue on the car, highlighted in Melbourne. We’re approaching this weekend fully aware of the challenges ahead, with the goal of making the most of the VF-25 and our drivers. »

Haas drivers eager to return to Suzuka

After a week off, Haas drivers seem eager to get back to racing at Suzuka. Young driver Oliver Bearman, already familiar with the track thanks to his Super Formula experience, didn’t hide his excitement: « I’m really looking forward to racing in Japan. The track looks fantastic, and with our partnership with Toyota GAZOO Racing, it’s going to be a big event for the whole team. […] This circuit really comes alive when you drive it. I was blown away by the welcome from the Japanese fans during my test — their support was already incredible even though it was just a test! I can’t wait to see them again this weekend. »

Esteban Ocon, meanwhile, shared his own joy about racing again at Suzuka, praising the unique passion of Japanese fans: « Personally, I’m delighted to be back racing in Japan this weekend. The fans here are exceptional — both passionate and incredibly knowledgeable. Over the years I’ve seen some absolutely wild outfits, and their kindness — whether through gifts or words of encouragement — is always touching. »

Confidence and caution after Shanghai

Haas arrives in Suzuka with confidence after a strong showing in Shanghai, where Ocon and Bearman finished 5th and 8th, putting the team 6th in the constructors’ standings. However, Komatsu remains cautious, noting that Suzuka’s high-speed corners could expose some weaknesses in the VF-25.

Other teams may also reveal special liveries for this Grand Prix, notably Red Bull in tribute to Honda. Last year, only McLaren chose a special design.
