Rubens Barrichello dreams of taking part in the 24 Hours of Le Mans with his sons
The Brazilian, formerly with Ferrari, now sees his sons racing in motorsport. Michael Schumacher's former team-mate would love to share a wheel with them at Le Mans.

Will they follow in the footsteps of the Magnussens, Bells, Rosiers or Andrettis? That’s certainly what Rubens Barrichello is hoping for. The Brazilian, who retired from Formula 1 in 2011, now watches his son Eduardo competing in the World Endurance Championship. This year, Barrichello Jr. has been signed by Racing Spirit of Léman.
The former Ferrari driver was present in Qatar for the WEC season opener, there to watch his son take the wheel of the team’s Aston Martin GT3. An experience that clearly reignited his racing passion. « My dream is to race with both of my sons at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, » said Barrichello, who also enjoyed a successful stock car career in Brazil, speaking to beIN Sports. « I don’t know if it’s a dream for them, but it is for me. »
While Eduardo already has one foot in the world of endurance racing, his brother Fernando is still competing in junior formulas across Europe. For now, he hasn’t taken the same path as his older brother — but who knows what the future holds…
Rubens Barrichello, keeping a close eye on his other son in Qatar, took the opportunity to learn a few things about modern racing machines. Although just an observer in the Racing Spirit of Léman garage, once a driver, always a driver — even in retirement. « He learned a lot too, because there’s a lot of technology and things we’re not used to in stock cars. He was with me the whole time and gave me a lot of advice, especially about my mindset. It’s great having him by my side, » said Eduardo Barrichello.
