A quiet race in Japan for Charles Leclerc
The Monegasque was finally back in the points zone after his blunder in China. But Ferrari, like most of the field, ran an anonymous race.

Shyly but surely. Two weeks after the double disqualification of the Ferraris in China, they finally returned to the points zone. Charles Leclerc, the best-placed driver of the Scuderia, secured a fourth place.
Difficult to say whether or not it’s a great result given how the Grand Prix was lacking in action. But the main takeaway from this Monegasque’s ranking is that he is once again the leader of his team.
Started with a strategy different from that of his teammate, it clearly worked better, even though Lewis Hamilton, in terms of time, wasn’t very far behind. With 20 points to his tally, Charles Leclerc is already quite a distance from the top of the standings. The season is certainly still long, but against the much superior McLarens and a Max Verstappen who hides all the flaws of his Red Bull, Ferrari will have to make progress.
« The only satisfaction of the weekend is that there is nothing more to do. After that, it shows that there is still work to be done. Even if we were in a better position… But unfortunately, it doesn’t change much from where we are. We need more performances. It’s not missing that much, especially with a race like today », said Charles Leclerc on Canal +.
