A deluge hits Miami 45 minutes before the Sprint race

While it had been warm and sunny all weekend, a downpour hit Miami 45 minutes before the start of the Sprint race. What a way to reshuffle the cards!

For his first time in pole position, Kimi Antonelli’s task is not made easier by the weather conditions. Indeed, an hour before the start of the Sprint race, rain began to fall in Miami, right in the middle of the F1 Academy qualifying session.

But while it might have been assumed that it was just a passing shower and that the track would dry quickly thanks to the wind and the ambient heat (24°C), a much heavier rain fell starting at 11:15 local time (17:15 French time).

The mechanics then had to revise their preparations for the race and bring the intermediate and wet tires closer for the grid setup.
